Ambassador Christopher R. Hill is a five-time US Ambassador, including having served as ambassador to Iraq, the Republic of Korea, Poland, North Macedonia and the Republic of Serbia. He was also Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.
In this engaging session, Hill will discuss the evolving landscape of global diplomacy, the growing complexities of international relations, and the challenges facing U.S. foreign policy today. He will share his experiences as well as how the shift away from the career Civil Servant has impacted America’s global role. He will talk about the role of the Civil Service, “soft power” and diplomacy, and why it is important to have a competent foreign service presence in every country. Drawing on his extensive experience in high-stakes negotiations and global conflict resolution, he will offer expert analysis on the shifting dynamics between world powers, the future of multilateral diplomacy, and how the U.S. and our European allies can navigate emerging geopolitical tensions.
