Rachel A. Epstein is a Professor of International Politics at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. She teaches international political economy and international security, and is primarily a specialist of Europe, particularly East Central Europe. She is the author of “In Pursuit of Liberalism: International Institutions in Postcommunist Europe” and “Banking on Markets: The Transformation in Bank-State Ties in Europe and Beyond” (winner of the Ed A Hewett award in political economy). Her most recent book, with Oliver Kaplan, is “Speaking Science to Power,” on the subject of how research is used in policymaking.
