    Loren D. Walensky, MD, PhD is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Principal Investigator and Attending Physician in the Department of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital, and Director of the Harvard/MIT MD-PhD Program. He earned his B.A. in Chemistry from Princeton University and his MD and PhD degrees from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by pediatric and pediatric hematology-oncology training at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana-Farber.

    As a pediatric oncologist and chemical biologist, Walensky’s work bridges the laboratory and the clinic, focusing on discovery of the fundamental mechanisms that drive human cancers and the advancement of innovative therapies to treat them. Equally passionate about education, he is deeply committed to training the next generation of physician-scientists, fostering their growth as leaders in both patient care and biomedical research. His mentorship has been recognized with multiple Harvard Medical School awards.

    Walensky’s research and leadership have been honored with an Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute, Burroughs Wellcome Career Award in the Biomedical Sciences, Harrington Discovery Institute Scholar-Innovator Award, and the E. Mead Johnson Award for Pediatric Research, among others. He is an elected member of the American Society for Clinical Investigation, the American Pediatric Society, and the Association of American Physicians. Dr. Walensky’s discoveries have contributed to new therapeutic strategies, the founding of biotechnology companies, and the advancement of novel drugs to clinical trials.
