Ethan is Vail Health’s supervising chaplain, a Board-Certified Clinical Chaplain, Spiritual Care Provider, and Pastoral Counselor. His first career of 14 years was in landscape architecture and planning, which brought him to the Vail Valley in 1995. Ethan received his Master of Theology in 2005 and served as the pastor of a local church from 2003 to 2023, during which time he also served as a volunteer trauma response chaplain at the Vail Hospital. After twenty years’ experience in pastoral ministry, Ethan formally joined the Vail Health chaplain team in 2023 where he works primary at the Shaw Cancer Center and with the “Shaw at Home” palliative care team.

Long involved in our valley’s non-profit community, Ethan now volunteers with SpeakUpReachOut as a faith informed suicide prevention speaker, and with Mountain Pride as an ally and spiritual care advocate within our LGBTQIA+ community. Ethan and his wife Lisa have two adult children and are blessed to call Eagle their home.
