Joseph Palamountain Chair in Government | Skidmore College

Beau Breslin is the Joseph Palamountain Chair in Government at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY. A student of the American Constitution, he teaches courses on constitutional reform, comparative constitutionalism, the American Founding, and the death penalty. His most recent writing, in both popular and academic outlets, has focused on the need for constitutional change. His latest book — “A Constitution for the Living: Imagining How Five Generations of Americans Would Rewrite the Nation’s Fundamental Law” (Stanford University Press, 2021) — takes a decidedly Jeffersonian approach and imagines how America’s tale might look quite different if we drafted a new Constitution every generation. He holds a Ph.D. in constitutional theory and American politics from the University of Pennsylvania.
