Ariel Cohen, L.L.B., Ph.D., serves as Senior Fellow at the Eurasian Studies Center at the Atlantic Council. He is also the Director of Energy, Growth and Security at the International Tax and Investment Center. Dr. Cohen is the Founding Principal of International Market Analysis Ltd., a Washington, D.C.-based advisory specializing in strategic communications, political risk and public affairs serving domestic and international clients. For 22 years, Cohen served as Senior Research Fellow in Russian and Eurasian Studies and International Energy Policy at the Heritage Foundation. He also developed and ran media and public opinion research projects for Radio Liberty-Radio Free Europe Media and Opinion Research.

Cohen conducts White House briefings and regularly lectures at: the U.S. Department of State, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Training and Doctrine and Special Forces Commands of the U.S. Armed Forces, the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency. Cohen frequently testifies before committees of the U.S. Congress, including the Senate and House Foreign Relations Committees, the House Armed Services Committee, the House Judiciary Committee and the Helsinki Commission. Cohen initiates and organizes high-level conferences on Eurasian security, terrorism and energy, and on the rule of law, crime and corruption.

Cohen has published seven books and monographs; 30 book chapters and more than 1000 articles in professional and popular media. He appears on CNN, NBC, CBS, FOX, C-SPAN, BBC-TV, Al Jazeera, and all Russian and Ukrainian national TV networks. He is a commentator on the weekly Voice of America (VOA) TV show “Current Times”. He is an energy blogger for FORBES, is a regular contributor to Al Jazeera and VOA, and has also worked with the Wall Street Journal, as well as having his own weekly foreign affairs radio and TV talk shows. For eight years he wrote commentary columns for United Press International and has extensively written as a guest columnist for the New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Christian Science Monitor, the Washington Post, EurasiaNet.org, and others. He was also a Contributing Editor for The National Interest.

Cohen taught at Loyola Marymount University, Antioch University, Georgetown University, and the U.S. State Department’s Foreign Service Institute. He has consulted for U.S. AID, The World Bank, the Pentagon, the U.S. Senate, and Radio Liberty-Radio Free Europe. Cohen is a Member of the Council of Foreign Relations, the American Council on Germany, and the American Bar Association.
