Nimby (Not In My Back Yard)
Nimby; plural noun: Nimbys; plural noun: Nimbiess

Definition: a person who objects to the siting of something perceived as unpleasant or potentially dangerous in their own neighborhood, such as a landfill or hazardous waste facility, especially while raising no such objections to similar developments elsewhere.

SESSION 1 (August 2, 2017 | 8 a.m. – Noon)

The Jamboree kicks off Wednesday morning with a panel discussion from 9 – 10 a.m. called “The Magic Sauce: What are the key ingredients to successful projects?” featuring:

This session also includes table discussions from 10 – 10:45 a.m. called “The Vision: What is your perfect answer to workforce housing?”and breakout sessions from 11 a.m. – noon on the following topics:

SESSION 2 (August 2, 2017 | 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Bus transportation generously provided by the Town of Vail

Participants will have the opportunity to tour two local projects.

Miller Ranch in Edwards: Built from 2003 to 2005, this is a deed-restricted for sale project comprised of 269 lofts, town homes and stand-alone homes. Katherine KT Gazunis former Eagle County Housing Director and Kim Williams, Managing Broker, The Valley Home Store will offer an overview presentation and tour of the project.

The second site visit will be Lion’s Ridge Apartment Homes in Vail. Recently completed, this 114 unit rental property was a redevelopment of The Timber Ridge project. George Ruther and developer Jen Wright, president of Wright & Company, will present introduce their work on project and lead a tour.

SESSION 3 (August 3, 2017 | 8 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)

The Jamboree concludes on Thursday morning with a continental breakfast and town hall-style discussion, moderated by Chris Romer, President/CEO of the Vail Valley Partnership. Participants will have a chance to engage a distinguished panel and both revisit topics from day one and explore other matters of interest. This will be an open forum aimed at fostering interaction and education.
