The Vail Alliance for Purposeful Living, Vail Symposium and Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging at the University of Denver are co-hosting a three-day “Purposeful Living Experience” featuring best-selling authors Richard Leider and Chip Conley. This includes two days in Vail and one day in Denver, all focused on various aspects of purposeful living:
- Day One: September 27, 6-7:30 p.m. at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards: “Unlocking Your Purpose at Any Age” with Richard Leider and Chip Conley
- Day Two: September 28, 9 -11:30 a.m. workshop at Colorado Mountain College in Edwards: “The Questions You Should Be Asking Yourself to Live Purposefully” with Richard Leider and Chip Conley
- Day Three: September 29, 10:30 a.m.- noon in Denver at the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging: “The Path of Purposeful Aging” with Richard Leider
Day One: Unlocking Your Purpose at Any Age
In this program, Richard Leider (best-selling author, award-winning coach and keynote speaker) will talk about the power of purpose, including stories and examples of purposeful living. He’ll share insights from his best-selling books, “The Power of Purpose,” “Life Reimagined” and “Who Do You Want to Be When You Grow Old? The Path of Purposeful Aging,” including the following topics:
- The importance of knowing why you get up in the morning
- The path to purposeful living, including gifts, passions and values
- Purposeful aging

Next, Chip Conley (best-selling author, speaker, and Airbnb strategic advisor) will share insights from his pioneering work with Modern Elder Academy and his book, “Wisdom at Work: The Making of a Modern Elder,” including the following topics:
- Millennials rising, thriving in mid-life and the problem of ageism
- What it means to be a “modern elder” (regardless of your age)
- Pairing wisdom and experience with curiosity, a beginner’s mind and a willingness to evolve
- Mentoring, connections and contributions

Then, Richard and Chip will have a dialogue about how to unlock your purpose at any age, including a brief activity for the audience, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience. The speakers will focus on practical steps all of us can take to discover our purpose and live more purposefully.
