Prepare to be amazed when two of the world’s best endurance athletes take the stage. Josiah Middaugh and Courtney Dauwalter join in conversation and address their unique paths to their chosen sports. Both are kids of the midwest: Dauwalter hails from Minnesota and Middaugh from Michigan; both now call Colorado home. And like their adopted homes, topics like training, managing injuries, maintaining focus and motivation are topics of commonality between the two.
“What we give ourselves credit for and what our bodies and minds are capable of, are two very different things,” Dauwalter says. She explores those possibilities through ultramarathon running and has found that with a whole lot of persistence and never making excuses, our limits are way beyond what we imagined. Middaugh’s path to elite athletic performance is replete with learning experiences that will ease the conscious of anyone who has made similar rookie mistakes. In addition to his demanding competition schedule, Middaugh coaches other aspiring athletes at all levels.
