Healthcare in the High Country
There is no video for this event.
“In 2014, Colorado’s Rocky Mountain Resort Region — Eagle, Summit, Pitkin and Garfield counties — had the nation’s highest health insurance costs. Federal officials addressed that not by studying the cost of healthcare in the region but by increasing the coverage area to include most of Colorado’s Western Slope.” – Vail Daily, October 26, 2015.
Soaring costs. Few choices. Many complaints. Bringing together state and local health leaders with small business owners in the Vail Valley, this program will discuss the healthcare challenges and opportunities facing Colorado’s high country.
“Healthcare costs and access to insurance remains a challenge for the Vail Valley business community,” said Chris Romer, Vail Valley Partnership president and CEO. “We are thrilled to have State Insurance Commissioner Marguarite Salazar and our panel of local experts to discuss healthcare access and costs, and to provide updates to our local audience on their individual operations and how they are working to address these issues.”
Marguerite Salazar was appointed by Governor John Hickenlooper as Colorado Insurance Commissioner in 2013. She oversees the regulation of the insurance industry in Colorado. She was previously appointed by President Barack Obama as Regional Director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Region VIII, where she played a role in the Department’s effort to implement the Affordable Care Act.
Panelists include: Kathy Jacoby from Delta Dental of Colorado, Janel Allen-Davis of Kaiser Permanente Colorado, Janet Pogar from Anthem Blue Cross and Michael Holton of the Vail Valley Medical Center.
This program is one of four in the Vail Valley Partnership’s Business Forum Series. The Vail Symposium is happy to partner with the VVP to address difficult local issues.
Welcome and sign-in starts at 8 a.m. Program begins at 8:30 a.m.
