Turns out, hiking the length of the Grand Canyon is harder than it sounds. Pete McBride and Kevin Fedarko found that out the hard way. The award-winning documentary “Into the Canyon” follows the pair every step of the way on their quest to hike the Grand Canyon, even the missteps. The friendship the two share and even their initial false start provided a refreshingly human component to this fascinating documentary.
“Into the Canyon” displays the beauty, solitude, and danger of the canyon. The difficulty of navigating without a trail system and the constant threat of lack of water were persistent challenges throughout their journey.
In addition to the threats Pete and Kevin faced during their journey, they exposed the threats the canyon faces from extraction, tourism, and development. All are either real or lurking threats.
