Dr. Joan Bornstein is a graduate of the University of Michigan. She received her medical degree at  Michigan State’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. Her residency in Psychiatry was through Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan at Sinai Hospital. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. In Detroit she was the director of Day Hospital programs for the treatment of chronic mental illness, and also did extensive consultation / liaison work at local hospitals, in addition to private practice. She has been a resident of the Vail Valley for 11 years and continues an active private practice of General Psychiatry.
