A Note of Appreciation

How fun is this? We live in the greatest place in the world. With recreation and culture as good as it gets, we’re able to satisfy our intellectual curiosity on a regular basis without ever leaving the valley. Thanks to the Vail Symposium, it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Being involved with the Symposium has been so rewarding (and yes, so much fun) on a variety of levels. After attending the majority of Vail Symposium programs for the past 10 years, I feel smarter now than ever. In addition to the satisfaction of simply learning new things, the chance to get to know fascinating characters, like filmmaker Mike Brown or Soviet relations expert Rose Gottemoeller, makes my experience that much richer. The friendly, relaxed atmosphere of the Vail Valley encourages them to be more accessible than anywhere else. The opportunity to interact with our speakers is generally open to everyone who comes to our programs, not just the board and our staff.
I can’t begin to convey how lucky I am to work with such a wonderful group of people. The commitment and enthusiasm of our entire board is matched only by that of Carrie and her staff, each of whom wears more hats and gets more done (and done well), than you can possibly imagine.
As Bill George said to me once, “The pleasure of having easy access to so many interesting topics and great speakers is only outweighed by the joy of being surrounded by other folks who appreciate it as much as I do.” Now THAT’S what the Symposium is all about. Thank you for supporting the Vail Symposium. I look forward to experiencing these unique opportunities with you again this winter.
Warm regards, Rob LeVine Chairman of the Board
